In Manila’s contemporary art scene, Anna Maniego, a self-taught abstractionist and poet, stands out as a one-of-a-kind artist who seamlessly combines visual and literary expression.
Having embarked on a diverse professional journey spanning media, real estate, production, and the power industry, Maniego’s artistic passion has flourished.
Her paintings, the artist says, were born from verses that echo her personal struggles and triumphs, and serve as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Primarily working with oil, Maniego captures textured and vivid colors, mirroring the kaleidoscope of emotions within her mind. The dichotomy between the bright, colorful strokes reminiscent of horizons, mountains, and cityscapes and the weighty themes explored in her poetry creates a harmonious balance.
Beyond her personal creations, Maniego engages in a unique artistic dialogue with her clients through commissioned pieces. Drawing from her experiences in various industries, she sits down with each individual, uncovering the themes that resonate most profoundly with their diverse backgrounds. These sessions, sometimes spanning hours, transform the commissioned artworks into personalized expressions of longing, frustration, and hope, encapsulated in each brushstroke and verse.

An immersive aspect of the exhibit allows viewers to experience the paintings alongside Maniego's poems through QR codes. Attendees are thus encouraged to bring earphones to listen to the poems that inspired the artworks.
