The singer and songwriter Rico Blanco recently found himself celebrating way ahead of his 49th birthday. Ten days before March 17, the record producer took to Instagram to reveal what is probably his biggest project to date—and it has nothing to do with music. Although it’s likely there will be a lot of that playing once Port San Juan formally opens its doors to the public.

Judging from the pictures and rendering he posted, Port San Juan is a commercial complex, a space he built with his partners in surf town San Juan, La Union. “I cant believe im now just counting the weeks (days??) til my ultimate dream project in Surftown LU @portsanjuanfinally opens its doors to the community 😭,” the singer shared on Instagram.

The post came with a series of photographs showing the interiors of the building plus an image of its facade. Port San Juan, according to Rico, will be open “very soon” to “tenants, partners, friends and guests.”

Matagal ko pinangarap ‘to kaya pagbigyan nyo na kung biglaang nag photo shoot nalang ako dito para hindi maiyak🤣” went his emotional post which also contained snaps of himself inside the location.

In 2019, when he shared with Pep.ph that he got his diving certificate, Rico also talked about his long-term plan to settle in La Union where he will continue to pursue his one great love. “With technology now, it’s so much easier to work with people no matter where you are,” he said. “I’m gonna build a studio there and create more music.” Guess he skipped the part about building a mall.

Anyway, we wish Rico all the best in this new endeavor. If he’s thinking of a tag line, how about “You’ll be safe here”?
