Motorcycle riding became really big in the pandemic. The lockdowns and limited access to public transportation paved the way for the uptick in the sales of motorbikes in the country.

A great number of Filipinos opted for bikes—as a mode of transport to take them to work, for their errands, and for riding adventures. Pretty understandable. It’s a more cost-effective option compared to owning a car.

Marc John Buencamino, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation’s head of commercial retail and office business group, is a rider himself. He knows that more than ever, people are getting on their motorbikes to stroll and explore. Thus, the idea to have a space for riding enthusiasts to hang out, dine al fresco, and share their passion for motorcycles and their experiences on the road. The place is called MotostrEAT.

Located along 9th Avenue in Bonifacio Global City, the space is about 540 sqm. Parking is free for motorcycles within the allowable hours, and for as long as riders dine within the vicinity of the al fresco tables.

“Within just a couple of days, riders already came in groups and the area became a natural nook for them,” says Marc.

According to Marc, they didn’t even have a formal launch when they opened in October. So they were surprised that word got around about the new hangout pretty fast within the riding community. “Within just a couple of days, riders already came in groups and the area became a natural nook for them,” says Marc.

Some days, one can see over 80 bikes in the area. Some would do group rides, park at MotoStrEAT, and have dinner or breakfast to unwind and recharge, observes marketing head Sean Luarca. Dining haunts nearby are TGIFridays, Fowl Bread, Krispy Kreme, Seattle’s Best, Bench Café, Pound, Brothers Burger and many others.

“For a more convenient and seamless dining experience, we placed QR code stickers in our al fresco tables, in partnership with JustPayTo,” says Sean. “Diners can simply scan and order from participating restaurants, and the food can be delivered straight to their tables.”

The marketing chief adds that some riding groups hold informal meetups in the space, too, which the owners gladly welcome. “We’re planning to open exhibits or pop-ups so relevant brands can showcase their products or use MotoStrEAT as a venue to host their loyal members/patrons,” adds Sean.

MotostrEAT is also open for non-riders who might want to ogle the motorcycle models on site. As for the safety of one’s bike, Sean says the lay-out of the area is specifically designed for riders to dine and also watch their bikes. But the space also has stationed guards and safety marshals who monitor security, guide riders, and implement safety protocols in the area.

The parking slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bikers can park and dine from 6AM to 10AM, and 6PM to 10PM daily.
