This July, Newport World Resorts officially opens its newest bar, The Whisky Library. It claims to have the largest collection of whisky in Manila and boasts liquors from all over the world. Behind its russet brick and mortar facade, the bar and lounge is a luxurious escape and will delight both connoisseurs and the curious with its wide array of top notch libations.
Fine aged Scottish and international single malt whiskies from leading producers dominate The Whisky Library’s exemplary selection, highlighted by the renowned Dalmore Constellation Series that can be enjoyed exclusively here. Sought-after brands such as the warm and tangy Tamnavulin and an assortment of liquors from brandy to Moutai share shelf space with a carefully curated list of wines and beer.
An expansive range of premium Old and New world cigars are also on hand at The Whisky Library, perfect partners to the bar’s over 240+ selected whiskies. From Cuban puros to robust Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco, these cigars lie in elegant tailor-made German humidors assuring the fine gentleman the full-bodied experience of its spectrum of flavors. The cigar bar also presents an assortment of gentler beverages as well as food options including a USDA Beef Sirloin cooked sous vide and garnished with dehydrated mushrooms and dark beer pear chutney.
The Whisky Library’s team of mixologists is proud of its menu of expertly crafted cocktails. Shaken not Stirred, for example, evokes James Bond sophistication in a classic cocktail that is a mix of Tarsier Southeast Asian Gin, maraschino, blue curacao, and egg white, perfected with lime and lavender. For those who can’t drink alcohol, the cocktail menu also has non-alcoholic options that can likewise be enjoyed in this 45-seater bar.
The interiors of The Whisky Library can be described as very European, radiating the allure of pleasure and exploration. Crystal chandeliers fill the two-storey lounge with a bright, warm glow. Colorful bottles line the beautiful bar, which is surrounded by chestnut wood-paneled walls and brick pillars. Dark velvet cigar boxes are the perfect companions to inviting leather seats and cast-iron tables. A spiral staircase leads to private nooks ideal for more intimate gatherings or sealing an important business deal.
The Whisky Library is open daily from 5 PM to 2 AM and is located at the 2F Grand Wing, Newport World Resorts.
