Devin Booker’s much-anticipated first signature shoe will finally be released in the Philippines.
The Phoenix Suns star’s Nike Book 1’s official release date was announced by local retail store Titan22 earlier Wednesday, months after it was already seen in Booker’s feet over the ongoing NBA season.
The first colorway that was accessible to the public was the ‘Mirage’ colorway, which according to Nike, “draws inspiration from his journey through childhood, to his professional career,” it said in its description in the SNKRS app.
“The Book 1 is a dream come true for not just Book, but his entire family. It's more than a shoe, it's a mirage-turned-reality on the court,” the statement added.
The Book 1 features a Zoom Air unit in the heel, while the rest of the shoe’s cushioning set-up is made out of Nike’s Cushlon.
Meanwhile, the shoe’s material in this particular colorway, more specifically in its forefoot, its eye stays, and its collar, features suede and nubuck overlays for a premium feel. On the other hand, the midfoot features canvas and weaved threads for breathability.
Fans previously voiced their disappointment with how Nike initially marketed and launched the Book 1, and Booker himself seemingly agreed with this as seen in his comment in an Instagram post by Complex.
Fortunately, all of that is in the past now, especially since it is up for a wider release in the coming days.
The Book 1 retails for P7,895 and the ‘Mirage’ colorway is set to be available starting February 17.
