With the help of rapper and Lacoste fan A$AP Nast, Lacoste recently launched its newest footwear: the L001. With its mix of rich tennis heritage and modern shoemaking, it’s predicted to be a new classic from the French accessible luxury brand.
The sneaker’s key details are taken from treasures in the Lacoste archive, among them a tennis racket from the 1980s and the Rene, the first ever shoe created by Rene Lacoste, the tennis player and founder of the brand. The retro shape and mood of the Rene informs the spirit of the L001, while the kinetic lines running along the racket’s handle have been directly transferred into an angular triangular design on the sneaker’s upper.
The sneaker both elegant and sporty—a key quality to the Lacoste ethos as exemplified by the brand’s iconic polo shirt. Other Lacoste archive elements abound like geometric lines complimenting a classic herringbone-patterned upper and a thick yet streamlined sole which has a nostalgic appeal.
Meanwhile, a smooth tumble leather makes this an elevated choice, making the style workable for most occasions. And while there is visible crocodile branding on the heel, it is treated lightly and subtly, crafting a minimalist look that ensures style longevity.
In the Philippines, the L001 is available at Lacoste retail stores and lacoste.com.ph from 08 September, and now available at Zalora PH.
