The biggest Louis Vuitton store in the Philippines just opened and, fittingly, it’s got local flavor. Located in the newest luxury wing of Ayala Malls Makati, Greenbelt 3, the cool, vibrant 665-sqm space is pulled together not only by the fashion label’s latest offerings but by elements unique only to Filipino homes.

Louis Vuitton collaborated with Filipino designers and sisters Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez and Jessica Kienle Maxwell of the high-end furniture brand Philux for the store’s interiors. The country’s rich tradition of weaving is a big inspiration, elaborated through wall accents and artworks.

The ceiling panels are made of raffia and saguran (textile made from the fiber of local leaves), with the women’s leather goods area showcasing bamboo teardrop lamps made by Filipino craftsmen. The private lounge’s sliding doors mimic capiz windows while rugs bear designs that echo complex tribal tattoo patterns. There’s a breezy tropical feel to the space but the approach to achieving this cabana vibe is light and understated.

There are Filipino artworks here and there made of strips of acrylic, handwoven abaca, polyester fabric, and a tasteful mix of cord, rope and tapestry. Art by the French painter Zelie Belcour and Portuguese Carla Sa Fernandes enhance the colorful mood while a centerpiece of metal on wood by English painter Russell Frampton add warmth to the space.
