An immersive show held at the Shanghai C·PARK marked the launch of trendy sports brand Fila Fusion’s initial partnership with Chinese-born singer-rapper Jackson Wang’s high street fashion brand Team Wang. 

Wang of K-pop boy band GOT7 served as the creative director for the capsule collection called “DONG,” which according to the press release represents “East” and “Movement.”

Inspired by parkour, the collection integrates Team Wang’s daily sporting needs with Fusion’s functional apparel, creating versatile clothing pieces. The threads feature oriental printing and dyeing arts, with gradient rendering of iconic blue and black colors from both brands.

Wang emphasizes the collaboration’s significance, expressing the desire to convey shared beliefs and visions and how essential the concept of “movement” is. The collaboration encourages individuals to know themselves and make their own history.

In the promotional video directed by Wang himself, athletes engage in the sport of parkour, running and navigating through various futuristic spaces. Using artistic techniques like doppelganger and mirror reversal, the video conveys the concept that it’s about exploring oneself both inside and outside the mirror. 

“In the world we live in, we are constantly seeking our own standards of happiness. We are consistently moving towards our dreams and destinations. All the unseen perseverance is fulfilled with meanings because of passion,” Wang wrote in an Instagram post. “The reality of the hills and valleys of challenges within the journey is eye-opening, and believe it or not, we are the center of it all…. If you decide to keep going, the journey continues.” 

Kelly Jiang, president of Fila Fusion, sees the collaboration as a significant move aligned with their brand’s new strategy. “This is one of the major market moves carried out by Fusion after the release of our new brand strategy, and ‘Stay in Fusion’ concept earlier this year. The diverse vitality of Fusion and its advocacy for young trendy sports align well with the ‘Know Yourself, Make Your Own History encouraged by Team Wang design. The shared concept destined this collaboration to break the routine, integrate differences, and bring a new experience,” she said.
