He first rose to fame as an actor, but it's safe to say that James Reid has been making his mark with fashion.

Earlier this year, he flew to Italy for Milan Fashion Week, attending shows for brands like Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Tod's.

He was also dubbed as "special guest" at the Emporio Armani fashion show, where he was photographed next to designer Giorgio Armani and his daughter Roberta.

"It was really unintentional... I think it's been building up over time," Reid said in an email interview with ABS-CBN News when asked about his foray into fashion. "Some people must have recognized my own fashion style, my own taste. I kind of stumbled into it, like most things I do."

"I just got back from Fashion Week in Paris and Milan, and it was an amazing experience, it was inspiring," he shared. "I hope to be back already for the Spring-Summer collection in June. At the top of my head, that's what I plan on doing."

Prior to Milan Fashion Week, Reid attended for Paris Fashion Week for the launch of H&M's collaboration with the Spanish fashion house Rabanne. He also walked the runway of a local fashion event last year.

Opening about his personal style, Reid said: "I would say my overall vibe would be retro, vintage, androgynous silhouettes and cuts, and then summery colors. I do things that clash -- for example, a feminine touch to a masculine look, or maybe a splash of color."

"If my outfit is leaning towards street, I like to make it more preppy; and if it's leaning towards preppy, I like to make it street," he added. "Yeah, I guess it's like a rule of opposites. That's how I'd describe it."

While he intends to immerse himself more in the fashion scene, Reid said this will not affect his craft as a musician, so his fans need not worry. "Not at all... The process of making music and making an album for me is a long process. It takes a while. You write from experiences and you write from your feelings -- I'm not always in the mood to write something," he explained.

"Sometimes, I need to experience life a little bit more and have more fuel for writing. Also, Fashion Week is only 10 days -- so for me, this was just a little break and it definitely has inspired me with the music. But of course, music is first and foremost my passion," he stressed.
