Philippine show biz’s young icons pose for iconic Swiss brand’s new collection

Omega taps top love teams to make a splash for the new Speedmaster Moonwatch timepieces

First introduced in 1957, the Omega Speedmaster has become a historical icon, earning its famed nickname “Moonwatch” after becoming the first watch worn on the moon in 1969. Recently, to celebrate the launch of the new Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer collection, the Swiss brand achieved another first: bringing together local entertainment’s three most beloved pairings and making them wear Omega.

The campaign is the reason for the stunning photos that recently appeared in the social media pages of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, and James Reid and Nadine Lustre. The screen love teams were photographed wearing timepieces from the Speedmaster Moonwatch Master Chronometer collection that best suited their taste and personality.

Kathryn Bernardo wore the Speedmaster Moonwatch – an 18K Canopus Gold™ model while her “gangster” Daniel Padilla also wore the 18K Canopus Gold™ design.

For Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, it was the Speedmaster Moonwatch in 18K Canopus Gold™ on a leather strap for her, while Enrique donned the 18K Sedna™ gold model on a leather strap.

Always distinct with their styles, Nadine Lustre and James Reid both also went for different designs on their shoot. On Nadine, the Speedmaster Moonwatch in 18K Canopus Gold™ was her watch of choice, while James went for the 18K Sedna™ gold design.

This latest collection is inspired by the timeless design of the 4th generation Speedmaster Moonwatch worn by NASA astronauts, and has been upgraded with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer 3861 calibre, which took years to perfect.

The hand-wound movement offers a power reserve of 50 hours and has evolved from the famous Calibre 321 that made history on the legendary moon landing. It has been tested and certified at the Swiss industry’s highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, and offers exceptional precision as well as magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss.

This most recent update of the Moonwatch features an asymmetrical 42mm case that’s presented on a five-arched-links-per-row bracelet, and is delivered either in stainless steel, 18K SednaTM gold, a rose gold alloy exclusive to OMEGA, or in 18K Canopus GoldTM—an exclusive white gold alloy of high brilliance.

The watch brand’s keen eye for detail is manifested on the surface of the new Speedmaster Moonwatch. It explores new design territory with its sun-brushed silvery or black step-dial and incorporation of the famous dot over 90 (DON) and dot diagonal to 70 on the anodised aluminum bezel ring.
