Watches are not just instruments for measuring time but are also powerful expressions of personal style and celebrating cultural identity. Seiko Philippines embraces this belief, creating timepieces that go beyond functionality but also serve as wearable tributes to Filipino culture.

Following the Tubbataha Reefs-inspired edition in 2020, the vibrant yellow-faced Philippine Sunrise released in 2021, and last year's Prospex watch inspired by the versatility and strength of the Philippine Eagle, Seiko came out with another limited-edition watch. This time around, it draws inspiration from the Banaue Rice Terraces.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the new Prospex watch will be donated to Save The Ifugao Terraces Movement.

This beautiful timepiece boasts a high-quality movement (caliber 4R35, automatic with manual winding, a power reserve of about 41 hours, and 23 jewels), a durable case (stainless steel with a ceramic display on the bezel, sapphire crystal with a magnifier, anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, and LumiBrite on hand, indexes, and bezel), and water resistance of 200m/660 ft.

Inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces, the face features ridging, adding to its allure. With only 1,500 pieces available, it's a coveted gem for collectors and enthusiasts alike. The watch is priced at P45,000.

The latest iteration of the Philippine Limited Edition Prospex goes beyond just the tradition of timekeeping. For this endeavor, Seiko partners with Save The Ifugao Terraces Movement (SITMo), the non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization formed by the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. Extending its help to the preservation and conservation of the Banaue Rice Terraces, which is in constant threat of deterioration, a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the new watch will be donated to the aforementioned NGO.

SITMo’s vision, says operations manager Daniel Perez, is to ensure that the heritage site “will consistently be a rich source of food security, cultural heritage, and biodiversity for present and future generations.”
