After 17 years of doing business in Boracay, beginning with their FIC (Fruits in Ice Cream) and now with their well-loved Spice Bird, Coco Mama, and Sunny Side Cafe, the husband and wife team of Nowie and Odette Potenciano has finally joined the island’s roster of hoteliers. After months of delay (it was originally slated to open in April) their boutique hotel Seaworthy is officially opening this Friday, July 8.
The beachfront establishment is located in fashionable Station 1. It has seven comfy rooms. “All guests have access to the Seaworthy Sunset Lounge where you can watch the best sunset in the world and have daily afternoon tea,” Nowie writes in his Facebook announcement.
He previously described Seaworthy to us as “very cozy and intimate” and “a little boho chic.” The Potencianos tapped the services of hotel and hospitality expert Maica La’O to help them put everything together. “It won't be super luxurious, but it will be comfortably appointed,” added Nowie in March. “We’re making sure it has all the little comforts. And we’re trying to use local materials to decorate it.”
The hotel has it’s own seafood restaurant called Percy, and a tiki bar called Hello Sailor! whose menu was created by the very cool David Ong of Oto and Edsa BDG fame.
“We’ve been hard at work getting everything ready,” says Nowie, “putting all our personal touches, and we’re excited to open our doors to guests.”
