This Makati icon ranks No. 25 in int’l travel mag’s 100 Best Hotels list

It’s the perfect birthday gift for Manila’s grande dame which turned 45 this month

Readers of esteemed lifestyle magazine Travel + Leisure recently voted The Peninsula Manila as one of the Top 100 Hotels in the World. The storied luxury establishment, which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary, tied at No. 25 with Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet. Both hotels earned a score of 98.40.

According to the New York-based travel publication, hotels were rated on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. The Pen write-up reads: “A grande dame in the center of Manila's business district, this opulent hotel has 497 rooms and suites, eight restaurants and bars, a spa and fitness center, and an outdoor pool surrounded by tropical gardens.” 

The hotel staff was also singled out. “The staff are always at the ready,” said the magazine, “whether it's helping with sightseeing or room service.”

The magazine’s Top 100 Hotels in the World list includes city hotels, jungle glamping, palace resorts, luxe safari lodges, and seaside hideaways that span the globe from the Caribbean to Southeast Asia, from Africa to South America. The Peninsula Manila is the only Philippine hotel to make it on the coveted list. It also placed No. 5 on the magazine’s list of Top 15 Asia City Hotels.
